The Hope Farmer's Market |
Did you know that the Hope Farmer's Market is just around the corner from you if you are an East Austinite? The address is 412 Comal, but you probably know it as Plaza Saltillo on the corner of 5th Street and Comal. It's open every Sunday from 11am - 3pm.

Just one of the many awesome vendors! |
Fresh produce, artisan jerky, cookies and other baked goods, local artists with handmade items and live music are just a few of the perks. It's also a fun place to grab a taco from Tacodeli and enjoy a free cold glass of water or purchase some kombucha from a local vendor. There's plenty of things to do with your kids and it's' dog friendly. There's a opportunity for kids to handle and learn about animals, and not just rabbits and chickens. A local, mobile petting zoo brings their critters for the kids to enjoy. There is an turtle, a hedgehog and a big lizard that even keeps some of the parents at bay. (He's friendly though!)

Johnson's Backyard Garden Stand |
Parking is free, but you could easily walk, bike or even ride the bus and it is a stop on the metro rail line. The vendor list changes as do the seasons so you can always check ahead to make sure your favorite is there.
If you just can't wait until Sunday, you are in luck! The market plans to host an evening market this Friday, October 28th, from 6pm - 10pm. Some of the fun activities planned are a costume contest, face painting, a Halloween movie screening, and the super cool band, The Joinks, a Scooby Doo cover band in full costume.
