Cafe Hornitos. The Best Tex-Mex Restaurant You've Never Visited!

One of the great things about living in Austin is the food. From food carts and trailers to fine dining establishments, and everything in between, Austin has great food. But folks, Cafe Hornitos is the best Tex-Mex restaurant most of you have never visited, and you should!

Cafe Hornitos is family owned and operated. It was started by two brothers who decided to take their chef hats from a well know Tex-Mex restaurant and open their own place. The waiters are their sons, and other members of the family help out as well. The food is made with love and the staff are always friendly and eager to make sure you have the best dining experience

The menu is very reasonably priced and the food is awesome. My personal favorite, Pollo Tres Salsas is almost a religious experience. One reason I love Cafe Hornitos is that you can substitute at will from the menu. We tend to get black beans and Tampico rice instead of refried beans and Spanish rice, but that's just us. You can get whatever you like. Not to mention their happy hour 3-7 weekdays offers very reasonably priced drinks and happy hour menu.

Now don't get me wrong. From time to time I still visit the more well known Tex-Mex restaurants around town, but for my family, Cafe Hornitos is home. Except of course we don't have to do the dishes after dinner.

So do yourself a favor a visit Cafe Hornitos the next time you've got a hankering for Tex-Mex. You won't be disappointed. Sit back, have some great food, sip a Margarita and enjoy life. Tell them Phillip sent you.
